Vie Herlocker is a writer and an
educator. She has published in Guideposts, Mature
Living, Penned from the Heart, and Miracles of Forgiveness.
Her career spanned thirty years as a teacher and elementary
school administrator. She also helped in the front
office, the clinic, and did her share of bus duty.
Vie tackled most custodial jobs that didn't involve
electricity, but cafeteria work was her greatest achievement.
Although she was banned from experimenting with that
humongous mixer, she could serve trays and wash dishes
like a pro.
Most recently, Vie co-authored the book, Building
Better Schools by Engaging Support Staff. This
project was conceived of over a year ago and has brought
much clarity to engaging all support staff. Within
the book, Vie discusses why support staff are critical
links to school success and student achievement. Likewise,s
he offers numerous ideas on how to move individuals
from "forgotten hero to an Engaged Ambassador."
Building Better Schools by Engaging Support Staff
has been received extremely well by both support staff
and school administration.
Vie and Sam Bartlett (co-author of Building Better
Schools by Engaging Support Staff) are presently working
on a new book, continuing the concept of engagement
and its importance and impact on individuals and teams.
Both the title and expected date of release are withheld
currently.
Vie makes frequent posts to The Engage Institute's
blog. For those interested in the new project as well
as general engagement, keep coming back to the The
Engage Daily blog.
